BEHIND THE NUMBERS
A quote you can follow.
Machine time and human time are separate. One-time costs are shared across the order. Your selling price follows the target you set.
Explore the formulas & worked example →How are machine time and labor calculated?
Machine minutes = stitches ÷ effective stitches per minute × quantity, for every placement. Labor includes hooping, handling and thread changes. Optional active attendance adds only the share of run time an operator must attend. Design setup labor is charged once per used design.
How are shared designs and expenses allocated?
Digitizing and setup minutes are charged once for each design used anywhere in the order. Use the same design in multiple locations or garment lines to share it. Shared costs are allocated by each garment line’s direct cost, or by quantity when all direct costs are zero.
What does overhead include?
The overhead percentage applies to all direct and one-time costs, followed by a fixed job overhead amount. Keep rent, utilities, depreciation and maintenance in one appropriate field each. Do not include the same expense in the machine rate and overhead.
Margin, markup and rounding
Margin price = cost ÷ (1 − margin). Markup price = cost × (1 + markup). A 40% margin differs from a 40% markup. Unit prices round up to whole cents and line totals use quantity × unit price; the final margin may slightly exceed your target. The minimum applies to the whole job.
What is outside this estimate?
This is a single-head, sequential run-time model, not a multi-head scheduling tool. Use measured effective speed for slowdowns. Add waste, samples, outsourcing or freight to other expenses as needed. Tax and shipping are excluded from the selling price and must be added separately. Gross profit here means quote revenue minus all entered costs, including entered overhead; it is not an accounting or tax statement.
